Lose weight through VR games: this woman shows it

There is hardly a woman who has not yet tried to get rid of her excess weight with various diets or other slimming methods. Marissa was also one of them: With her weight of 91 kilograms and a height of 1.72 meters, she was very dissatisfied. The 28-year-old has tried everything possible to lose her excess weight. But no matter what diet she tried, sooner or later the laboriously lost kilos always came back. In 2019, she finally found an effective way to fight her weight – in the form of VR games.

Lose weight with video games

Of course, that sounds too good to be true: you spend your free time playing video games and you also lose weight. But Marissa actually did it this way: "I lost 16 kilos through the constant movements and I feel much better as a result," she says on her blog stylecollect.de. But how did she get started with VR games in the first place? In fact, it was Marissa's man who bought the VR glasses. For these there are various games in which you have to move a lot. For example, in the game "Beat Saber" colored blocks fly towards the player, which the player then has to cut with virtual swords.

2.5 kilos in four weeks

Sounds easy, but at higher levels of difficulty you get a sweat, as Marissa quickly realized: According to her fitness tracker, "Beat Saber" burns up to 370 calories within 30 minutes. And by the way, she just enjoyed the game a lot. After a few weeks, Marissa mastered Expert Plus, which requires quick movements. And she was also very successful on the scales after a month – 2.5 kilos had tumbled with the help of the game.

Incidentally, Marissa hardly changed anything about her diet. Although she says she primarily tries to eat healthy, she does not want to do without sweets entirely. The VR games really made it clear to her how crucial movement is for losing weight.

So apparently I've been missing sport over the years. There is no other explanation for my weight loss.

In addition to the VR games, she walks a lot and comes as she says an average of almost 8000 steps a day.

More games for a change

Her success motivated Marissa immensely and she started playing "Beat Saber" for about an hour a day. The pounds keep falling. But although the game is still her favorite, there was a lack of variety at some point. So she looked around for alternative VR games with a similar effect. She came across the boxing game "Thrill of the Fight", which she finds even more exhausting than "Beat Saber" and with which she can burn up to 400 calories in 30 minutes. Finally, the fitness game "Supernatural" is one of her favorites. The game can best be compared to "Beat Saber", but uses a colorful selection of music for motivation. Up to 408 calories are possible with 30 minutes of play.

Marissa is super happy with her new weight and thinks that the expensive purchase of VR glasses was absolutely worth it. She will continue to wield virtual fists or swords and hopes that maybe one or two more pounds will fall off.
