Diets – nobody does it voluntarily, nobody speaks about it loudly and it is always torture. One feeds on disgusting for weeks cabbage soup and a few days later the painfully lost pounds are waving gently from the hip again. Or you count points – stupid only when they are used up after breakfast. How others do with the Food cravings get in line? I have no idea! My discipline really leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to sweets. But hand on heart the 10 kg that are still over from the last Christmas season, I would secretly like to be rid of again. Good thing that Sirtfood diet is very popular. Allegedly You not only lose excess kilos, but also build muscles at the same time – and that without going hungry, but with chocolate and red wine! Too good to be true, right?

And what are these sirtfoods?

Sirtfoods are all those foods that do that Fat burning enzyme sirtuin – hence the name – stimulate and shed the supposedly superfluous pounds. Certain herbal substances stimulate the activity of the body's own sirtuins just as if we were fasting – it has even been scientifically proven. And if you take a look at the character traits of sirtuins, there are all sorts of reasons Sirtfood is now at the top of the menu to put.

Sirtuins:

  • help with stress
  • prevent diseases
  • protect against inflammation
  • strengthen the immune system
  • help build muscle
  • boost fat burning
  • protect against cell damage, heart disease or cancer
  • and slow down the general aging process

Sounds great, doesn't it?

Incidentally, the diet was developed by Aidan Goggins and Glen Metten, two nutritionists who are convinced that a diet based on the sirtuin principle not only involves doing without, but also with pleasure to the dream figure leads. We fully agree with you, gentlemen! – Hello chocolate, hello beloved red wine.

And what do we eat from now on?

Finally a diet for which you don't have to go on a lengthy search for unusual foods. Rather, it is about everyday foodswhich, however, are all vegetable. Fruit and vegetables, spices and herbs provide the valuable sirtuins. Typical sirt foods are:

  • Strawberries,
  • Apples,
  • Oranges,
  • Blueberries,
  • Walnuts,
  • Capers,
  • Celery,
  • Olive oil,
  • Chili,
  • Red onion,
  • Kale,
  • Arugula,
  • Buckwheat,
  • Parsley,
  • Spices like turmeric, coffee, green tea
  • red wine
  • AND dark chocolate with a high cocoa content

And there are tried and tested ones Protein sources: Soy products, white meat or eggs. Hm, yummy … Well, that's okay. But what about pasta and pizza?

The catch – was it clear that it was coming, right?

The disillusionment follows on the foot: Pasta and pizza release at most happiness hormones, but tend to increase the pounds. So basically the sirtfood diet is nothing else than Low carb with benefit and a hip name. Diet remains diet. Unfortunately, it's just a matter of law: if you want to lose weight, you have to consume fewer calories than are consumed. In this case that means – tadaaa – 1000 kcal a day in phase 1, then 1500 kcal. No wonder: If I hold on to my celery stick for lunch instead of attacking the pasta, I logically lose weight – whether with or sirtuins. And With three glasses of wine and a bar of chocolate, the 1000 kcal are gone faster than I can say sirtfood – then I'm drunk, but by no means full.

Conclusion: Sirtfood lures with false promises

I feel ripped off. It all started so promisingly. But now I know again why I never do any: Diets are never, never, never fun. So I prefer to do mine Bonus kilos cozy, wait for Christmas and benefit from the Sirtfoods without any somersaults, but with cell rejuvenation. So: Bring wine and chocolate!
