Loss of reality at Tesla? E-car manufacturer has big plans for Germany

Tesla really wants to get down to business in Germany – can that work? (Image source: IMAGO / Eibner)

Tesla is a car manufacturer of superlatives. The US manufacturer has made electric cars a mass phenomenon. Tesla boss Elon Musk still sets the tone with his car in many ways. But even with the ongoing high flight, the plans for Germany seem exaggerated.

Blatant Tesla plan: double sales despite inflation and crisis

Tesla sold 39,714 electric cars in Germany in 2021 and delivered them to customers. The goal of doubling the sales figures year after year has therefore been more than achieved. A year-on-year comparison of 2021 and 2020 shows an increase of 138 percent. but the signs for 2022 are far from good.

In the current year, 24,734 Tesla units have already been sold by the end of August. Corresponding so far only an increase of 37 percent compared to the same period in 2020. At the end of the third quarter, there should be a few more in September when, as is usual with Tesla, the large deliveries from the Asian gigafactories arrive in Europe. Nevertheless, it does not look like doubling so far.

Lease an e-car and collect a bonus of €6,000

Tesla should continue to pursue this goal. A person responsible for Germany has confirmed this to Automobilwoche (via Teslamag). This renewed doubling would mean that Tesla sold a total of around 80,000 e-cars by the end of December should have. So there are still more than 55,000 pieces missing in Germany alone.

Elon Musk shouldn’t have any money worries any time soon. These are his companies:

Buy an e-car? 60 percent of Germans have no money left

The specification seems rigid and unrealistic. A doubling of sales, while in Germany the inflation to dizzying heights swings up, hardly seems feasible. Tesla has also raised prices several times. Only a few Germans still have that much money. Because of the long delivery times, however, new customers hardly matter in order to be able to achieve the annual goal. The order situation must therefore give the goal.

In addition, Tesla is known for production spurts at the end of the year – among other things, to meet the often lofty goals set by Elon Musk’s executive floor. It wouldn’t be the first time Tesla has far exceeded expectations. We will know in a few months whether we can succeed this time as well.
