Lost Ark: When characters’ outfits are controversial!

While Amazon has just announced its roadmap for Lost Ark over the next three months, an interview with Eurogamer with Soomin Park, head of the Amazon Games franchise revealed more information about the different genders available for each class in the game as well as the outfits of the female characters that are being debated among the community. Regarding both topics, changes are coming!

The classes

In Lost Ark, many character classes are only available in one gender. For example, warriors are only male and mages female. Smilegate previously said the company was in the process of work on creating different genres across multiple classes. These words were confirmed by Soomin Park during his interview with Eurogamer.

Classes are closely tied to their character models in terms of action and animation, so integrating characters of opposite gender into a class takes more work than just providing a character model. different kind.

However, Smilegate RPG is actively working on this; the Berserker woman is the next class to arrive in Korea. While not every class in the game currently has a male and female counterpart, we have made an effort to include those that do in our launch class lineup.

In the future, Smilegate RPG will create more equivalents for classes that are still gender locked, and we will bring them to Arkesia in due course.

In a next roadmap, new genres will surely be announced for several, or even (eventually) all of the classes available on Lost Ark.

Female representation

Many MMORPG players had also pointed the finger at the representation of women in the game, in particular the outfits and the gait of the female characters, considered degrading by some. In previous years, members of the Korean Lost Ark community had complained about this portrayal, and when the game was released on international servers, the number of complaints kept increasing.

On this subject, Smilegate RPG had said “recognize” the remarks of its players. Soomin Park revealed more about aesthetics of outfits and armor available in the game.

When it comes to armor sets, while we’re not modifying any of the original in-game costumes, we’re making adjustments so that the more revealing options aren’t featured prominently in places like our marketing or the screen. character creation initial (though original character creation outfits are still available in-game as early drops).

We’ve also included some new outfit options that aren’t as revealing, but these are an addition, not a replacement.

As we are aware of the balance between fans who want a lost Lost Ark experience close to the original Korean version and new players who might not like the current armor and costume options, we are adding outfits and alternatives to the game instead of removing options.

New, less “revealing” outfits will therefore be added soon. In the meantime, don’t hesitate to take a look at the roadmap for the next three months for Lost Ark, with two new classes on the program: the Destroyer and the Arcanist!

Due to a minor mishandling, Amazon Games accidentally released its roadmap for the next three months of content planned for Lost Ark. We discover in particular the introduction of two new classes, but also Legion Raids, among others!
