Lost control – accident with three cars in the Tyrolean Lechtal ends fatally

Spectacular accident early Monday evening in Elmen in the Ausserfern region of Tyrol: a Pole (29) lost control of his car on the Lechtalstraße, got into the oncoming lane and crashed into the cars of two locals. While the car of the suspected cause of the accident then crashed into a tree, the vehicle of a 38-year-old overturned and came to a standstill lying on the roof in the adjacent field.

The serious accident happened around 6:15 p.m. The 29-year-old Pole was driving his car on the B198 in the direction of Reutte when he suddenly came into the opposite lane near Elmen for an unknown reason and struck two oncoming cars. Rollover and crash against tree The Polish driver lost control of his car as a result , whereupon it went over the side of the road and crashed into a tree with full force. But that’s not all: One of the oncoming drivers – a 38-year-old local – also came off the road. His car overturned in the adjacent field and ultimately landed on the roof. Two injured were taken to the hospital “The Pole and the Austrian sustained injuries in the accident,” according to the police. The latter had to be flown to the Reutte district hospital with the RK-2 emergency doctor helicopter after initial treatment on site. The 29-year-old Pole was brought there by the rescue service. Massive damage was caused to all three vehicles involved. During the operation, the Lechtalstraße was only passable in one lane.
