Lots of fatal accidents – so bad is the morale to stop on protective routes

The club has carried out more than 1000 observations on selected unregulated protective trails in Vienna. The result: 89.6 percent of the vehicle drivers enabled a pedestrian to cross the road unimpeded. For car drivers, the rate is slightly higher at 91.5 percent, for single-lane drivers (the ÖAMTC here summarizes motorcycles, bicycles and even scooters) only 66.7 percent. It was irrelevant what speed was allowed. At 30 km / h the rate was 92.5 percent, at 50 km / h 90.4 percent.
