The announcements keep coming from Sony. While the games offered to PS Plus subscribers this month have been revealed, the publisher is announcing something new for the PS5.
The PlayStation 5 Pro has been on everyone’s lips in recent weeks, but Sony’s latest is continuing its journey seemingly in vain. Routine updates for the PS5, like those more important ones, follow each other at a regular pace and Sony today gives us a little preview of one of the future features of the console.
New features for the PS5
Something new is coming soon for the PS5. A new feature which will be aimed above all at those who love playing online, since Sony will deploy in the coming months a new way to invite other players to your sessions. It is currently possible to do this directly from the game or your Party, but PlayStation intends to simplify the process with the possibility of generating a shareable link. More concretely, whether on your PS5 or via the PS App, you can generate a link then send it by message or via social networks. By opening the link or QR code, the recipient will then be able to join your Party or your multiplayer session, even without being part of your friends list on PSN.
“ For example, if you just chatted with a new person on a social network, you can invite them to join a session on PS5 through that same chat and play with them without having to add them to your friends on PS5 », Illustrates Sony in its official press release. New technology requires for the Japanese manufacturer, a sample of PS5 games will be updated at the launch of this new feature in order to ensure optimal operation. Sony assures in any case to work in close collaboration to “explore the best solutions for these games. »
Other improvements planned
A widget for sharing them from the PS5 via the messaging application will also be deployed in the coming months. It will dynamically update to show the status of the multiplayer session and verify that it is still active before joining. And it’s not over ! In the future, it will also be possible to share your PSN profile or that of another player via social networks or by message. This will once again go through a link, which can be generated directly via the console, the PS App or on the official PlayStation website.
Sony promises that these three new features only represent a small sample of the measures they will soon put in place with the aim of “facilitating multiplayer sessions and the establishment of friendly links between players”. No release window has been indicated for these three new features, which will undoubtedly arrive with the next major update of the PS5.
