Lots of traffic at Pentecost – traffic jams in front of the Gotthard in the south increase again – News

  • Whitsun traffic to the south led to a longer traffic jam on the north side in front of the Gotthard tunnel on Saturday night.
  • Between Erstfeld and Göschenen in the canton of Uri, cars were sometimes backed up over a length of up to 10 kilometers.
  • The convoy got shorter until 4 a.m. on Saturday morning, after which the traffic slowly increased again. The time lost was around 40 minutes.

The loss of time was at times one and a half hours, as the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) traffic service announced on Twitter. According to the Viasuisse traffic service, by midnight the length of the traffic jam was around 5 kilometers and the waiting time was around one hour and 15 minutes.
