Lotus Eletre: its prices and performance revealed

Unveiled in March 2022 and tipped as one of the most significant vehicles of the turning point that the automotive industry is currently experiencing, the all-electric sports SUV Lotus Eletre finally reveals its prices.

Three versions will be available: Eletre, Eletre S and Eletre R, with a choice of two powertrains ranging from 603 hp to 905 hp for a range ranging from 490 km to 600 km (WLTP) depending on the version.

The first Eletre version features five drive modes, active air suspension, torque vectoring, matrix LED headlights, active grille and 20-inch wheels. As standard, the Eletre is equipped with wireless smartphone charging, 12-way electric front seats, four-zone automatic climate control and many other features.

The Lotus Hyper OS infotainment system includes a 1380-watt 15-speaker KEF Premium audio system, an ultra-slim driver and co-driver display and a 29-inch head-up display. Everything is controlled by a 15.1-inch OLED Full HD touch screen oriented in the center of the dashboard in landscape mode and which automatically folds flat when not in use. The price of this basic version is €95,990.

This standard version of the Eletre therefore announces 603 hp, 710 Nm of torque, a 0 to 100 km / h shot in 4.5 s and a 112 kWh battery for a range of 600 km. It would be possible to go from 10 to 80% autonomy in 20 minutes.

The Eletre S has the same technical specifications at the powertrain level but is also equipped with an active rear spoiler, configurable ambient lighting, illuminated side sills, exterior mirrors with automatic dimming and a system cabin air quality monitoring. The KEF audio system also includes 23 speakers for a total output of 2160 watts. The price for this version climbs to €122,090.

Finally, on the side of the Eletre R, the bar is set much higher, both in terms of performance and price. Indeed, it will take 150,990 € to afford the most efficient electric SUV of all time. For this price, the power increases to 905 hp, the torque to 985 Nm and especially the 0 to 100 km / h in 2.9 s. Compared to the other versions, the Eletre R offers a lowered ride height and more performance-oriented settings for the dampers and anti-roll control. A Launch Control mode is also appearing and various carbon fittings will be offered as an option, as will ceramic brakes. On the other hand, the autonomy will be limited to 490 km.

Beyond these figures and Eletre (sorry, we couldn’t help it), the SUV is full of technologies with the deployment of level 4 autonomous driving and, a priori, the possibility of leaving the car driving alone at full power on the Nürburgring circuit. A feat achieved among other things thanks to the deployment of a Lidar and a calculation system based on Qualcomm 8155 chips.

Moreover, from a technological point of view, Lotus emphasizes the “Unreal Engine” technology from the gaming industry, which allows the team in charge of user experience (UX/UI) to offer real-time 3D content and experiences. In addition, the infotainment system is based on ECARX technology, which offers a priori ideal computing power for a totally fluid experience on the many screens that equip this SUV.

Anyway, all this equipment, added to the impressive dimensions of the machine (5.10 m long, 2.13 m wide and 3.01 m wheelbase) will necessarily play on the weight of this SUV. Lotus. A weight that will blithely exceed 2 tons and which, despite the words of Gavan Kershaw, the product director, necessarily distances this Eletre from its historical DNA. A story in which the notion of lightness had been erected as a founding principle of motoring pleasure. Clearly, a page is turning.
