The voices of Louane and Grand Corps Malade blend harmoniously in their song Behind the fog. And yet, this single extracts from the albums Ladies of the slammer and Joy of living of the famous singer, could never have come out. Indeed, the first contact between the two artists turned out to be somewhat embarrassing. When the 43-year-old singer-songwriter called the former candidate for The Voice, the latter had an unexpected reaction. This is what the young mother told on the set of C to You sure France 5 Tuesday 9 March 2021. "He called me, I didn't have his number, and he has a special voice. I heard 'Hello Louane.' I panicked, I hung up ", she explained, hilariously. And to continue: "It's super creepy. It's rare to meet a man with such a deep voice."
Fortunately, Grand Corps Malade, which was obviously keen on their collaboration, did not stop there. "Like what, it's good to insist because I could have stayed on it, there would never have been Behind the fog", he stressed. As Louane clarified, the poet finally sent him an SMS: "It's Fabien, it's Grand Corps Malade." They then ended up in a bar where the magic happened. "The goal was to find out what we were going to do together as a duo. And I listened to Louane. She talks a lot", did he have fun before continuing: "We chatted, she told me a lot of things, and suddenly I offered him this song that I wrote to measure, for her and me ", the singer said.
"My deep voice, I don't bump it"
The voice of Grand Corps Malade is easily recognizable. In an interview with Parisian on October 9, 2012, the one who puts women in the spotlight in his latest opus confided in this singularity. "I dubbed the character of Rictus in Toy Story 3. A monologue like a slam. So I didn't do a lot of acting … My deep voice, I don't work it, but I realize that it characterizes me.
