In 1990, Kimberlin Brown appeared for the first time in the skin of Sheila Carter in The Young and the Restless (which changes credits for her 50th birthday). After a lot of shenanigans and Machiavellian moves, the protagonist then migrated from Genoa City to Los Angeles, in Love, Glory and Beauty (whose star becomes a Marvel superheroine).

Thirty years later, the soap opera fan-favorite psychopath still plagues the Forresters and Logans. Moreover, in the episodes of the soap opera currently broadcast on TF1 (Monday to Friday from 10:30 a.m.), Sheila killed Finn (Tanner Novlan), her son, by accident then shot Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood)!
An emblematic figure in the universe created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, Sheila is in fact inspired by a cult and terrifying character from the 7th art! As her interpreter revealed to us during an interview, the one who was once a nurse is therefore based on another nurse who is as crazy as she is dangerous…
Kimberlin Brown inspired by Kathy Bates
Kimberlin Brown recalled the day she auditioned for the role of Sheila, just before her introduction in The Young and the Restless (where Tricia Cast (Nina) is soon to return): “The executive producer at the time said to me while I was in the waiting room, ‘I want you to be like Kathy Bates in the movie Misery !’”
As a reminder for the less cinema-loving among us, Misery told the story of a novelist who found himself by an unfortunate coincidence the prisoner of a retired nurse, a total fan of his work and… totally disturbed!
The actress continued for AlloCiné: “This feature turns out to be one of my favorites, Kathy Bates’ performance is awesome! To have a producer who gives you this freedom to play these types of characters, in a daily soap opera, is incredible! So I played Sheila like that in the casting and that’s how she arrived.” For better and for worse !
