A star of a famous Christmas film has launched a particularly loving campaign for the contemplative holiday this year: On Christmas Day, “Love Actually” actor Hugh Grant (63) surprisingly visited senior citizens in London. “Thank you to everyone who attended the annual Big H&F Christmas Day Lunch – including a very special guest: Hugh Grant,” said a post from Hammersmith and Fulham District Council at X.

Serve plates and shake hands

“Hugh helped us serve lunch for 500 older people from the region who would otherwise have celebrated alone. This was the real ‘Love Actually,'” they wrote, referring to the 2003 film in which Grant plays the British Prime Minister. The published pictures show the actor handing out plates, shaking hands and interacting with seniors at the event in London.

In one another post at X It was reported that guests were able to enjoy a Christmas dinner at the Novotel Hotel with live music and received gift bags filled with Christmas treats to take home. According to the Evening Standard Around 40,000 pounds (around 46,000 euros) were raised through donations to make the event possible. Ben Coleman, deputy leader of the county council, said in a statement: “Our Christmas dinner provides good food, company, gifts and fun to many senior citizens who would otherwise spend December 25th alone.”
