We love fruit! It tastes delicious and also provides us with vitamins and fiber. Unfortunately, some fruits have too much sugar. Here you can find out which ones contain little and which you can therefore enjoy as low-carb fruit without any worries.

The good news first: Of course, fruit is healthy. After all, fruits are rich in vitamins, minerals, fiber and phytochemicals. But the downside of many varieties is unfortunately the high sugar content, which can harm us in the long run. Too much sugar can on the one hand cause tooth decay and on the other hand promote inflammation in the body and thus even promote diseases such as cancer. But don’t worry: we’ll tell you which fruits you can eat without hesitation – because they are low-sugar fruits.

1. Avocados

No, you are not in the wrong text. From a botanical point of view, avocados are actually fruits and not vegetables. And while they’re quite high in calories, they’re very low in sugar. They only contain about 0.7 grams per 100 grams of weight. And they are rich in various vitamins and the healthy unsaturated fatty acids.

2. Lemons

Sour makes fun! Lemons are also a very low-sugar fruit. They are not necessarily suitable as a snack, but in smoothies or as an addition to water, for example, they not only ensure a tangy taste, but also provide the body with a lot of vitamin C – we need this above all for strong immune systems. And: Lemons only contain 2.5 grams of sugar per 100 grams.

Raspberries have only 4.8 grams of sugar per 100 grams, and the delicious summer berries have anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects thanks to the secondary plant substances (which, by the way, also owe their rich color). The latter means that they protect our body from harmful free radicals. They can even help prevent cancer and other diseases.

4. Blackberries

We continue with another type of berry, namely blackberries. They also contain only 4.9 grams of sugar and, because of their dark color, are also well placed when it comes to antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents.

5. Strawberries

We can also eat our fill of strawberries without placing too much sugar on the body. It only contains 5.5 grams per 100 grams – so the berries also belong to the low-carb fruits. Another plus: They even contain more vitamin C than oranges.

6. Grapefruits

Grapefruits hardly have any more sugar. The sour fruits also have only 5.9 grams of sugar per 100 grams. But they are rich in vitamins A, B and C as well as magnesium and calcium.

7. Watermelons

As the name suggests, watermelons contain a lot of water. More precisely, they are 90 percent liquid. The ideal summer snack that also quenches our thirst! And with only 6.2 grams of sugar, they are also one of the low-carb fruits. They can also lower blood pressure and contain a lot of vitamins A and C – great for the immune system!

8. blueberries

Blueberries are also rich in the secondary plant substances, which are responsible for their intense color – and, as already mentioned, also have an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effect. And they only have 7.4 grams of sugar per 100 grams – so they are also rather low in sugar.

9. Apricots

Apricots contain a little more sugar – namely 7.8 grams, which also makes them lightweight. And in addition to vitamins B and C and calcium, the sweet fruits have plenty of carotene (provitamin A) on offer. Our body can convert this into vitamin A itself.
