This Saturday, Éric Ciotti dismissed Aurélien Pradié, the number 2 of the Republicans. An announcement that comes the day after the end of the debates on pension reform in the Assembly, where the Republicans appeared divided. For President LR, the objective now seems to clarify his party’s position on the subject.

This Saturday, the president of the Republicans Éric Ciotti dismissed the number 2 of the party, Aurélien Pradié, from his functions. A decision which comes against a background of disagreement within the LRs on the pension reform. The party seems more divided than ever. This is what precipitated the announcement of Eric Ciotti: the president of the Republicans intends to clarify the position of his party, which has become less and less readable over the course of the debates.

Clarify the position of LRs on pension reform

This decision was welcomed by a majority of executives, including Jean-François Copé, the mayor of Meaux, severe about Aurélien Pradié, whom he accuses of wanting to “double the PS from the left”. In an interview at Sunday newspaperhe adds that the right has a duty to vote for this reform out of consistency, but also because he believes that the pool of Republican voters is more with Emmanuel Macron than with the National Rally.

For his part, Aurélien Pradié has still not reacted publicly. The Lot deputy met on Saturday by telephone with his relatives, a large part of whom are now members of the party’s organization chart. His response, expected in the next few hours, could once again fuel divisions on the right.
