The legislative battle is full, all sides combined. If the left has succeeded in a historic alliance, the presidential majority has just signed an agreement with the MoDem and Horizons.
The Marching Republic is no more. The party, created by Emmanuel Macron in 2017, has decided to change its name. From now on, it will be “Renaissance”, like the name of the group to which the deputies of the presidential list sit in the European Parliament.
In addition to this, a confederation has been created for the legislative elections between “Renaissance”, the MoDem and Horizons, party of Edouard Philippe and right wing of Macronie. This confederation is however not an alliance, because the three parties do not merge, allying themselves as three distinct stables but which will work together.
Horizons expects around fifty or even sixty candidates for deputy
François Bayrou, boss of the MoDem and very close to Emmanuel Macron since entering the atmosphere five years ago, spoke of “continuity” and explained that “all sensibilities will have their place”, adding in passing that ” [c]he negotiations took place in the best possible climate. Edouard Philippe, who had been said to be cold with the president, was more pragmatic: “Before forming groups, you have to elect deputies […] This requires that a majority emerges and we want to give this majority to the President of the Republic. »
Richard Ferrand, president of the National Assembly and Stanislas Guerini, general delegate of the party were also present. For the moment, Horizons is counting on around fifty or even sixty candidates for deputy, while the MoDem is negotiating around a hundred. A first list of 250 invested candidates will be unveiled at the end of the afternoon.
