Lubricant gel and nipple balm should not be missing in any facial care routine! What sounds like a joke is actually the best tip for well-groomed and healthy skin. Sensitive skins watch out: these two products are true all-rounders!

Are we completely crazy now? You don’t smear lubricant and nipple balm on your face, do you ?! Yes, that’s exactly what you should do! Think about it: These products are formulated to be particularly mild – just for our two best friends down there. After these arguments you will immediately sprint to the bedside table …

Nipple balm as intensely nourishing facial care

Nipple or nipple balm was developed especially for breastfeeding mothers whose nipples require special care. After the baby has been cared for, the balm is applied to the breast to regenerate the stressed and sensitive skin. As soon as the baby is breastfed again, there is direct contact between the balm and the child’s mouth – so it is clear that the ingredients and the formulation of the product must absolutely be mild, natural and absolutely harmless! So what speaks against it, a balm with rich ingredients that are not only good for one of the most sensitive areas of our body, but also for our baby, should also be applied to the face?

It is obvious that the nipple balm also cares for chapped lips. But there is another ingenious application that you probably haven’t heard of: Slugging! The Korean skincare trend is about applying an occlusive balm generously to your skin overnight. The term comes from the English “slug”, which translates as snail, but luckily it has nothing to do with it! “Slugging” could be translated as “leaving a trail of slime”.

Because our skin is constantly losing water, which can make it dry and less elastic, we try to compensate for this with creams, serums and oils. But it is even more effective to use a occlusive balm to use: This acts like a kind of sealant, so that less water can escape. This works with Vaseline, ointments and especially well with a rich (nipple) balm! Because compared to Vaseline, it contains a mixture of high-quality oils that not only condense, but also provide the skin with rich nutrients at the same time. Slugging originally meant applying the balm thickly to the whole face as the last step in the evening care routine. We recommend: Wear the nipple care daily targeted on dry areas rather than the whole face – be careful with acne-prone skin. Because bacteria are also trapped in this way! So it’s better to slug selectively.

With this method, your night really becomes a beauty sleep: the next day you will immediately notice a positive difference! The skin shines, feels plump and supple and just looks healthy. Of course, you should definitely pay attention to the quality of your product – fragrance-free is a must! By the way, Marilyn Monroe is said to have sworn by this trick. So: more courage to use nipple balm!

Lubricant – your friend and helper

But lubricant is not allowed on our face in us? Why not? If you look at the formulation of the gel, there is no reason for it: water, glycerin, xanthan gum and lactic acid. Glycerin is a humectant found in almost all of our creams, serums and primers. Xanthan gum is a thickener that makes the product less liquid (and is also found in almost all of our products). and Lactic acid are lactic acid bacteria that are a natural component of the protective acid mantle of the skin. This means that they support the skin’s natural moisture retention system. It is included in lube to regulate the pH value so that nothing is out of balance down there. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
If it still contains fragrances, you shouldn’t use it anyway – neither during sex nor on your face! Because they have no caring properties and only irritate the skin unnecessarily (yes, essential oils too!).

How do you use lube as a facial care product?

First of all, lubricant is suitable for all skin types – it is a good choice, especially for oily and acne-prone skin. In contrast to creams, gel textures are formulated without oil, which can clog susceptible skin and thus promote impurities. It also feels incredibly light on the skin, is quickly absorbed and gives us a beautiful, natural glow. You can replace the day cream with lubricant if you have oily skin. Or apply before the cream on dry skin. The lubricant is also particularly suitable as a make-up base: glycerine has the property of leaving a slightly sticky result after it has been absorbed. This means: the make-up lasts longer because it adheres better to the skin and is less easy to smudge.

As crazy as it sounds: Lubricants and nipple balms are real hidden champions for facial care! What was designed for the most intimate areas of our body also works wonderfully for the face. And is also usually cheaper and more effective than other products on the market!
