Lucas Cordalis reveals what challenges await him in the jungle camp and how he looks back on his father’s participation.

Lucas Cordalis (54) will appear on the RTL show “I’m a star – get me out of here!” (9:30 p.m. on RTL and RTL+) be visible. Together with eleven other celebrities, the singer has to prove himself as a jungle camper in South Africa. In an interview with the news agency spot on news, Daniela Katzenberger’s (35) husband explains why he hardly prepared for the adventure and why his wife did not travel to South Africa.

The 54-year-old also tells what his daughter says about his trip and why the participation of his late father Costa Cordalis (1944-2019), who was named the first king of the jungle in 2004, differs from his own.

How excited are you for the jungle camp?

Lucas Cordalis: I felt like I had to wait an eternity for the jungle camp to start. I was the first candidate who was confirmed for this season and that was well over a year ago. Of course, I’m all the happier now that it’s finally starting and the big jungle camp adventure is starting.

How did you prepare?

Cordalis: The tasks that you have to face in the jungle camp are so diverse and unpredictable that it is hardly possible to prepare yourself in a targeted manner. In general, I just try to be relatively fit and feel good.

You have never been to South Africa. What ideas do you have of the country and the new camp?

Cordalis: I’ve always wanted to get to know Africa. I am really looking forward to getting to know the continent of Africa and the country of South Africa. Everything I’ve heard and seen so far is very promising. Since the jungle camp takes place outdoors, you get to know the country in a very special way that is otherwise very rare.

Her father-in-law Peter Klein is your companion. Why was he allowed to come along?

Cordalis: He’s also very strong mentally and has good nerves. Unfortunately, my wife Daniela couldn’t come with me because my daughter Sophia obviously has to go to school during this time.

Her father was already in the jungle camp. What does your family say about your participation, was anyone skeptical?

Cordalis: I remember well when my father told my mother that he wanted to go to the jungle camp, she said that if he did, she would get a divorce. At the time, I was actually the only one in our family who supported his project. This time it’s different, at least I have the feeling that everyone in my immediate environment supports my participation.

What does your daughter say about your father’s jungle adventure?

Cordalis: Of course, my daughter would rather have her dad at home, that’s for sure. She’s a total daddy girl. Still, I am sure that time flies quickly. I have made it my goal to spend a lot of quality time with my family after my return.

What will you miss most in the barren jungle life?

Cordalis: I’m sure I’ll miss my family the most, luxury and convenience don’t mean much to me.

Do you have a limit when it comes to exams?

Cordalis: I think when someone decides to go into the jungle, you have to be willing to try anything. After all, it’s about getting all the stars and making sure there’s enough food.

Hunger, crawling animals, etc. What could be your undoing in the jungle?

Cordalis: I think hunger and the crawling animals are the smallest problem in the jungle camp. It’s more about getting along with the other jungle campers, not losing your nerve and not getting cabin fever. However, I believe that after a few days with little food and little sleep, the mask falls off for most of the participants and one or the other conflict flares up.

How do you plan to avoid trouble with your fellow campaigners?

Cordalis: I think I have relatively good nerves, but I’m allergic to injustice. Of course, the sound also makes the music and you don’t have to agree with everyone.

How do you rate your chances of winning? Do you think you can win the crown in the end?

Cordalis: It’s so hard to say, I really wish it would, of course. However, it depends almost entirely on the people back home calling and supporting me. If I can do that, I would be very, very happy.
