Luck in disguise – About Carinthia: the plane suddenly lost the pilot’s door

A plane suddenly lost the pilot’s door during the flight over Carinthia.

The 68-year-old pilot from the Murau district took off from Klagenfurt Airport in his small plane at around 3 p.m. on Saturday. He wanted to fly to Styria. Suddenly, for reasons unknown, the pilot’s door opened. The pilot did not manage to close the door again – he turned around to fly back to the airport in the Carinthian capital. But then came the moment of shock: the wind tore the door completely out of its anchorage. She fell to the ground in an undeveloped area about three kilometers north of St. Donat near St. Veit. The Styrian’s headset was damaged by the suction effect – a radio connection was no longer possible and an emergency signal was sent in the direction of the tower.
