A Lufthansa campaign is causing a stir on Facebook. The airline apparently offers gift cards for free flights for a few euros. That’s what lies behind it.
There are always crazy actions from influencers and companies on social networks. It’s not always easy to tell whether the posts are real or fake. Lufthansa is currently allegedly advertising six free flights on Facebook – more precisely, you can secure the free flights for a tempting two euros in the form of a gift card. To be too good to be true?

The campaign can be found on the “Lufthansa – Deutschland” Facebook account. The site bears the official Lufthansa logo and also uses official images. The gift card is advertised in various postings on the Facebook page.
The seriousness is supported by alleged comments from users who post a photo of their gift card in the comments.

The alleged free flights are always published by the airline in numerous postings under a different pretext. Sometimes it is claimed that Lufthansa has to offer cheap flights due to a lack of passengers, sometimes it is advertised with a company anniversary or an alleged scandal.
That’s behind the action
The Facebook posts are an obvious scam, namely so-called phishing. Users should click on “Apply Now” on the post to request their gift card. As Mimikama reports, they then ended up on a fake Lufthansa website. Those affected should then enter their personal data and credit card information here.
Of course, in the end there were no free flights, but the cyber criminals got what they wanted: sensitive data that could be sold on the dark web or used for identity theft.

The account’s last post was from September 4, 2023, and the link no longer leads to the fake airline website, but to an Italian diet website. However, the fraudsters could change this at any time.
So be careful if you stumble across the alleged Lufthansa campaign. Six flights for just two euros? If it seems too good to be true, then something is usually wrong.
