(CercleFinance.com) – The Lufthansa Group announces that it is extending its collaboration with its long-standing and proven partner, airBaltic (BT), for an additional period of three years beyond summer 2025, as part of a ‘wet lease’ partnership.
airBaltic is the largest national airline of Latvia, with its headquarters and hub in Riga.
As a reminder, a ‘wet lease’ is a type of aircraft leasing contract where the lessor (in this case, airBaltic) provides not only the aircraft, but also the crew (pilots and cabin crew), maintenance and insurance.
The partnership will enable the flexible deployment of up to 21 additional fuel-efficient Airbus A220-300 aircraft in summer and five such aircraft in winter at various hubs.
Due to changing customer needs, Lufthansa Group airlines adapt their route networks to seasonal peaks in demand, particularly in the summer calendar.
