In a tweet, the firm specifies that “the airlines of the Lufthansa group are affected by a computer failure, caused by construction work in the Frankfurt area”. According to a ‘Bloomberg’ source, the problem probably stems from a cut in a Deutsche Telekom broadband cable.

German air traffic control is diverting landings at Frankfurt, Lufthansa’s main base, to avoid an overrun. Flights are being redirected to other German airports, including Nuremberg, Cologne and Düsseldorf.
