FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Lufthansa has decided to suspend flights to and from the Ukrainian cities of Kiev and Odessa amid fears of a Russian invasion of Ukraine, a spokesman for the airline group said on Saturday. .

Owner of Eurowings, Swiss, Brussels Airlines and Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa will make its last flights to these cities over the weekend before a suspension on Monday until the end of the month, the spokesman said.

Service to the city of Lviv in western Ukraine, where some countries have decided to transfer their embassies, will continue, he also said, adding that Lufthansa was monitoring developments in the country and would decide on new flights at a later date.

Like Lufthansa, other European airlines have already decided to cancel flights to and from Ukraine.

Germany also invited its nationals to leave Ukraine on Saturday.
