On Wednesday night, veiled clouds caused halo phenomena around the moon. The 22 degree ring was the most pronounced.

The 22-degree ring is not only a common halo around the sun, it can also form in bright moonlight. It is created by the refraction of light by the ice crystals in thin clouds. In some cases, such halos are signs of a change in the weather, as these high clouds indicate the approach of a warm front.
