In “Lupin”, nothing is ever left to chance. In part 3 of the series led by Omar Sy, which was posted online this Thursday, the characters use numbers that have a very special meaning.
After more than two years of waiting, Netflix released season 3 of Lupine this Thursday, October 5. This new burst of episodes picks up a few months after the events of the previous season.
Now on the run, Assane (Omar Sy), whose face is now known to everyone, must learn to live far from Claire (Ludivine Sagnier) and Raoul (Etan Simon). Faced with the suffering they endure because of him, the gentleman burglar can no longer stand it and decides to return to Paris.
He then meets Claire to make her a crazy proposition: leave France and start a new life elsewhere, far from problems. But the ghosts of the past are never far away, and an unexpected return will disrupt his carefully orchestrated plan.
Numbers that make sense
Since the launch of Lupine, Netflix subscribers have known: no element of the storyline of the series led by Omar Sy is left to chance. Every detail has been thought through by the team of screenwriters, who enjoys regularly making nods to the character created by Maurice Leblanc. And season 3 is not left out.
In the first episode, Assane Diop manages to break into a famous jewelry store on Place Vendôme in order to steal the Black Pearl, one of the only objects he has never managed to steal.
To escape the police and BRI agents, he finds a way to change the codes of all the doors of the establishment. The chosen code: 1905. Fans of Arsène Lupine will no doubt have understood the significance of this date.
1905 is in fact the year in which the first adventures of the gentleman burglar were published. A date which therefore has all its importance for the character played by Omar Sy. And this is not the only code present in the series to relate to Arsène Lupin.
Later in the season, during episode 6, Claire, Raoul’s ex-wife, enters a new code for the alarm in her apartment: 1864. A number which is none other than the date of birth of Raoul. Maurice Leblanc, the creator of Arsène Lupin. We must therefore believe that Assane is not the only fan of the famous thief.
