Lyon beat Bayern Munich 2-1

Lyon was difficult to win at the expense of Bayern Munich (2-1) Wednesday, November 10, at Parc OL, after a match of the 3e Ladies’ Champions League day. The Lyonnaises almost assured their qualification for the quarter-finals, while taking a serious option on the first place of group D.

Olympique Lyonnais are five points ahead of the German club, which they will meet on November 17 in Munich for the return leg.

Before snatching victory in the last minutes on a goal from Amandine Henry who victoriously headed a corner played from the right by the American Catarina Macario (87), the Lyonnaises suffered for a long time for lack of inspiration offensive and they showed some excitement at the rear.

They were also carried out at half-time on a goal scored against his camp by the Canadian Kadeisha Buchanan after a corner played two (26). During a rather mediocre first period, Bayern, however shy, could even have added a second goal on a shot from Lineth Beerensteyn stopped by the Chilean goalkeeper of the OL, Christiane Endler (31), while a Carpenter’s return wiped out an opportunity from Sofia Jakobson (45 + 1).

Janice Cayman and Amandine Henry on the maneuver

Without Selma Bacha, Amel Majri and Wendie Renard, injured, Lyon, long completely harmless with too timid shooting attempts from Delphine Cascarino (4) or Catarina Macario (22), managed to equalize at the start of the second half.

It was the Belgian Janice Cayman who found the opening following a free kick played by the American Macario badly negotiated by the Munich defense (50). Cayman was not far, soon after, to give his team the advantage with a shot passing just over (60).

For her part, the Norwegian Ada Hegerberg, who entered half an hour from the end, was also close to giving OL the advantage on an attempt passing close to the post (80) but it was ultimately Henry who had the last word.

Before returning to Munich, Lyon will face, on Sunday, still at Décines-Charpieu, but in Division 1 this time, Paris-Saint-Germain. A major meeting for the attribution of the title in a championship of France dominated by the two formations. Lyon aspires to recover their title lost in the spring.
