Lyon Covid-19: you can have your children vaccinated in Gerland from January 3

Good news for parents who want to vaccinate their offspring. From January 3, the Palais des sports de Gerland will offer time slots for children aged 5 to 11 by appointment.

They will be given doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. This expansion of vaccination to all children aged 5 to 11 is possible thanks to the favorable opinion given on December 20 by the High Authority for Health (HAS).

Monday, Wednesday and Friday

In total, 2,200 vaccinations will be performed per week for children, spread over 3 days (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) from 8:30 am to 8 pm, for a total of 15,500 injections per week (adults + children). The center will now operate with 8 doctors including pediatricians, 20 nurses and 10 health students to welcome the public.

This exceptional device is organized in the sports grounds of Gerland thanks to the collaboration of many local actors: the Hospices Civils de Lyon (HCL), the Regional Health Agency (ARS), the City of Lyon, the Regional Unions of Professionals of Health (URPS) and the teams of the Woman-Mother-Child Hospital.

Children accompanied and informed

Once there, parents will have to sign an authorization. A pre-vaccination consultation will be systematically organized and will take place according to the procedure adapted to the age of the child. He will receive clear and appropriate information and will be able to ask questions of a healthcare professional.

Two nocturnes for 12-30 year olds

Finally, the Palais des sports de Gerland will also organize two evening events for 12-30 year olds from 8 p.m. to midnight, on Wednesday January 5 and Friday January 7. They will be able to receive Pfizer vaccines. Notice to interested parties, compulsory appointment on Doctolib upstream.
