Contrary to some rumors, the new Mac Pro won’t hit the market this year… but that’s a good thing. Apple would actually give its engineers more time to make it an even more capable (and powerful) machine than expected.
No new Mac would arrive on what is left of the year 2022. This is what we are told WCCFTechand the news obviously concerns the Mac Pro, whose launch would only take place in the course of 2023. It’s still a long time to wait for a product that has not benefited from a major update since 2019. However, this would be a healthy delay that would lead to a much more muscular product than what was originally planned.
The new Mac Pro would have gone upmarket even before its launch
Partly due to TSMC, which is still struggling to increase its production of chips engraved in 3 nm, this delay would also be wanted by Apple. The firm would like to give its engineers more time to pamper the architecture used by the Mac Pro 2023 processor as well as possible. The goal? Ensure that this SoC will develop the most flattering performance possible, both in terms of CPU and GPU. A first-rate stake on a machine intended above all for professionals.

” I think Apple originally planned to use a variant of the M1 chip, but at some point made the decision to wait until versions of the M2 with more CPU and graphics cores were available “says Mark Gurman.
Towards an announcement for the first half of 2023?
As we mentioned recently, the new Mac Pro would offer two optional configurations: a first based on an M2 Ultra processor and a second with an M2 Extreme processor. It is the latter which could go up to 48 CPU cores and 152 GPU cores. Enough to bury (at least we hope) the Intel Xeon processors still installed on the current Mac Pro.
As for the launch of this new Mac Pro and its new supercharged chips, the mystery still hangs. Apple is rumored to be planning an announcement somewhere in the first quarter of 2023, with full release soon after. On our side, a presentation of the product at the next WWDC, in June 2023, would not surprise us.
