The Mac Studio would not be updated immediately, so as not to cannibalize sales of the next Mac Pro.

The Mac Studio is the most powerful computer offered by Apple today, but that could change in a few months.

The Apple-based Mac Pro has lagged behind, offset by the release of the Mac Studio

The brand has introduced, with this Mac Studio, a new member of the Mac family intended primarily for professionals and freelancers. This computer, which can be roughly summed up as a big Mac mini on steroids, is equipped with an M1 Ultra chip, the most powerful Apple-developed processor available today.

Apple, however, wants to offer a new computer dedicated to professionals, and would be putting the finishing touches to the successor to the Mac Pro, released four years ago.

The Mac Pro is the only Mac sold by Apple that has not yet made its transition to Apple Silicon processors and it seems that the manufacturer is ready to announce its successor in the coming months, even if it means pausing the development of the future. Mac Studio.

The Mac Studio would be put on hold, to leave a competitive advantage to the Mac Pro

The Mac Pro could accommodate an M2 Ultra chip, in order to offer the maximum possible performance to its happy owners. Apple could have offered the same processor in a revision of the Mac Studio, but according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company’s executives do not want to offer a machine that is much cheaper than the Mac Pro and benefits from more or less the same level of performance. .

The Mac Pro would however have its own advantages, such as better scalability of components, even if we recently saw that Apple will lock the computer a little more, as well as better ventilation which should allow the tower to deliver better performance during the heaviest tasks. Apple, however, would not want to take the risk of cannibalizing sales of the next Mac Pro, and losing part of its turnover.

The plan initially followed by Apple was that of a Mac Pro equipped with an M2 Extreme processor, but the brand would have stopped the development of this chip in its tracks, the fault of a too high production cost which would have led to a sale price at beyond reasonable, even by Apple standards.

The Mac Studio would not be abandoned either. Apple could offer a new version of it in a few years, including an M3 or M4 generation processor.
