American actor Richard Dean Anderson, best known for “MacGyver”, fires red balls on the reboot of his series, canceled after 5 seasons.
A successful series during its broadcast from 1985 to 1992, it was certain that one day, a chain would launch a reboot of MacGyver. This gave MacGyver, launched by CBS in 2016 with actor Lucas Till as the headliner.
Recall that MacGyver is a character adept at non-violence working for the Phoenix Foundation. Only equipped with his intelligence, his cunning and his Swiss army knife, he seeks to put an end to plots, attacks and other sinister projects.
Except that this reboot, canceled in 2021 after 5 seasons, is not to the taste of Richard Dean Anderson, the original interpreter of the handyman adventurer. In the magazine TV Star of December 19, 2022, he confides:
It wasn’t MacGyver. The people involved seemed nice, but they missed the mark. I don’t mean to sound mean, that would be rude, let’s just say there were too many explosions and guns.
The 72-year-old comedian, who has since starred in Stargate SG-1, said he was jealous of the reboot and didn’t like it, and for good reason:
“I would have liked to have had the same budget as them! Sometimes I come across an old episode and you can see that it was shot in 1985. I remain proud of what we did. had fun.”
Despite its tight budgets, MacGyver has remained in the memory of viewers, especially its double episode of the seventh and final season in which Angus MacGyver finds himself after a blow to the head, immersed in the chivalrous universe of the Arthurian legend. Memories memories !
