Provided your MacBook or iMac is compatible, it will only take a few minutes to install the latest update.

This Monday, October 24, Apple offered for download macOS Ventura, version 13 of the operating system for its Mac computers, which brings some interesting new features both in terms of the interface and the functionalities.

Reduced compatibility with devices up to 2017

Before we get into the hot topic, let’s take a quick look at macOS Ventura’s compatibility with older Macs. Unlike Monterey, this new system drops some roadside benchmarks.

In detail, iMacs from those released in 2017 as well as all iMac Pros are concerned. The Mac Pro 2019 is also very logically compatible, as is the very recent Mac Studio.

For laptops, macOS Ventura will be installed on MacBook Air 2018 and above, MacBooks from 2017 models, and finally, the MacBook, also from its 2017 revision.

How to install macOS Ventura on your Mac?

Ready to update? Nothing’s easier. First, click on the “Apple” logo at the top left of the screen, then click on “System Preferences”. Then click on the “Software Update” button.

macOS will fetch the installation package from Apple’s servers and download it once you click the “Download and Install” button. Downloading and preparing the update can take a few tens of minutes, depending on your connection and the speed of your Mac.

Once these operations have been completed, you will need to click on the “Install” button to start the installation. Before that, Apple will make you accept the terms of use for its latest software.

Your Mac will now restart several times during the installation, which again can take several tens of minutes. On our machine, it took about 25 minutes to find our workspace, now switched to macOS Ventura. If you had left various windows open, they will be displayed again once you log in to your user session.
