As far as the software is concerned too, there is something new. The Cupertino company has thus lifted the veil on the new generation of macOS, which takes the name of macOS Ventura.
Stage Manager: to bring order to your windows
First development put forward by the American company, a new utility that allows you to reorganize your office – it is called “Stage Manager”. The goal, as Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering, pointed out, is to allow focus on an application or window without external distraction.
The feature, which is activated in the control center, offers to rearrange the windows on the side, automatically. The windows are then displayed in the form of small thumbnails, while retaining the same layout as they had when they were displayed large on the screen. This allows you to switch from one group of windows to another, without having to rearrange everything.
Updates for Spotlight, Mail
The arrival of macOS Ventura will also be an opportunity to update Spotlight, which is a search engine designed by Apple. The tool, announces the American company, is now able to find images in the photo library, on the Internet, but also to detect text in images and to report shortcuts. Welcome improvements.
Regarding the application for emails, Apple is also making changes that will make the service more practical. The 2022 version of Mail includes “intelligent” features, with the programming of the sending of an email, having reminders, benefiting from corrections or automatic filling. A better search engine is also expected.
Passkeys: towards the end of passwords?
WWDC was also the occasion to present the system called “Passkeys”. It appears that this device aims to replace passwords, which is part of a concerted strategy with Microsoft (Windows) and Google (Android) to put an end to passwords, which are no longer suitable.
The general idea is to be able to connect to a platform without having to enter any password. The tool aims to be interoperable.
