Macron, Scholz and Draghi took a train together to kyiv

The French president is on his way to the Ukrainian capital, accompanied by German chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian head of government Mario Draghi. They boarded a special train to kyiv together. The train arrived at kyiv station on Thursday around 8:30 a.m.

French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi boarded a special train bound for kyiv, Italian and German media reported Thursday. The three leaders boarded this special train in Poland and are expected Thursday morning in kyiv, Ukraine, according to ZDF in Germany and the Italian daily La Repubblica, which publishes a photo of the three leaders on board the train.

Macron, Scholz and Draghi met “during the night” in Rzeszow, a city in south-eastern Poland which has an international airport, before continuing their journey in Ukraine towards kyiv, specifies ZDF. They should say Europe’s support for Ukraine at war with Russia, which invaded the country on February 24, after a billion dollar military aid announced by the United States.

An exchange between Macron, Scholz and Draghi without an adviser

According to information obtained by Europe 1 from the Elysée, Mario Draghi first joined Emmanuel Macron in his car and the two men had a short exchange shortly after the train left, stopped at a station for the passport control.
Olaf Scholz then joined them for a preparation meeting which lasted between 1h30 and 2h00, one-on-one, without an adviser. Mario Draghi left first, leaving Olaf Scholz alone with the French president. Emmanuel Macron finally made a point with his teams, before going to bed around 3:30 a.m.
