Some media on the left support the French strikers. But many point out that tough action would be needed in the United States, too.

But France intrigues. “The fierce opposition” to the pension reform “is partly due to the French culture of work, which insists on the importance of the quality of life and the balance between professional and private life, and a comfortable retirement”, notes NPR radio.
