Emmanuel Macron will chair Thursday evening from Fort Brégançon (Var) the interministerial crisis unit activated following the violent storms which killed five people in Corsica, announced the Elysée. The Head of State will oversee a “situation update” by videoconference at 7:45 p.m. in the presence of Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne.
The Ministers of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, of the Ecological Transition Christophe Béchu, of the Armies Sébastien Lecornu, of Health François Braun and the Secretary of State for the Sea, Hervé Berville, will intervene remotely.

“We are closely monitoring the operations taking place on land and at sea,” Elisabeth Borne tweeted, referring to the rescue resources mobilized. The Mediterranean island, where the tourist season is in full swing, will once again be on orange alert from Thursday, 9 p.m., until Friday, 10 a.m.
Brutal thunderstorms, accompanied early in the morning by gusts of wind that could reach more than 200 km / h in places, killed five people on Thursday on the island, victims in particular of the fall of trees in campsites.
The President of the Republic had spoken twice during the day with the President of the Executive Council of Corsica, Gilles Simeoni, in order to “show him all his support and assure him of the full mobilization of the means of help”, said the Elysée.
