The members of the Nupes announced Tuesday in a joint letter that they will go without “illusion” on Wednesday at the invitation of Emmanuel Macron. The head of state called on the representatives of the political parties to come together around him to find new common ground, while the government simply enjoys a relative majority in the National Assembly.

The four Nupes parties (LFI, PS, PCF, EELV) announced Tuesday in a joint letter that they would go without “illusion” on Wednesday to Emmanuel Macron’s invitation to political parties to “bring proposals in the ‘interest of the people’, but without taking part in the dinner planned afterwards. “We do not want to participate again in a media staging”, explains Nupes in response to the Head of State who is to receive the parties represented in Parliament on Wednesday in Saint-Denis, in order to build “together” legislative texts. and to pave the way, “if necessary”, for referendums. The program includes an afternoon of work followed by dinner.

In this letter to the President of the Republic, the four main parties of the New Popular Ecological and Social Union (Nupes), say they are “taken aback” by the terms used by Emmanuel Macron in his invitation. “You write there that for a year, you have been carrying out ‘a policy of independence and justice’. We do not believe it. You indicate that you have ‘know how to forge useful compromises’ and have put in place ‘concrete solutions for our school or our health’. We don’t see them,” they criticize.

“We have no illusions about your objectives”

“Let’s be frank: given the content of your policy and the terms of your invitation, we have no illusions about your objectives”, they write again, saying they are “accustomed” to its “one-shot communication operations and without effect”. “We do not want to participate again in a media scene. This is the reason why we will not participate in the dinner that you are organizing in the evening”, they argue.

The Nupes will notably make proposals on the difficulties of recruitment in National Education, the increase in the price of school supplies, the cost of student life, the price of electricity, fuel and inflation on food products. . Finally, the left-wing parties are calling for a referendum on pension reform, “the only referendum project that French women and men are waiting for”, according to them.
