Mad Max Furiosa: the first apocalyptic sets unveiled in photos

While the filming of Furiosa began at the beginning of June, photos of the sets of the film by George Miller have just been unveiled.

Furiosa is currently filming in Australia. The feature film worn by Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Burke takes place before the events of Mad Max: Fury Road.

The first photos of the sets of George Miller’s film have just been unveiled. These visuals give us a glimpse of the grandeur of the sets. We can also see a group of bikers in post-apocalyptic outfits.

The feature film is a spin-off centered on Furiosa’s youth, before she crossed paths with Mad Max (played by Tom Hardy in the 2015 version).

Anya Taylor-Joy (Le Jeu de la dame, Split..) takes over the role played by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road while Chris Hemsworth embodies the villain. Tom Burke is also in the cast in a role still kept secret.

In 2015, George Miller was already planning a film centered on Empress Furiosa, but it was then a feature film supposed to take place on the same timeline as Fury Road since Charlize Theron was to reprise her role.

Released in May 2015, Mad Max: Fury Road won 6 Oscars, including Best Sets, Best Costumes and Best Makeup, but only earned $374 million worldwide for a budget of $150 million.

Despite these disappointing figures, the studio still gave the green light to George Miller to shoot his sequel but with a new cast.

Furiosa is already announced in our theaters for May 22, 2024.
