Madame Web shows up, another disaster?

The next big film in Sony’s Spider-Man universe is revealed. And inevitably, this divides despite the different trailers and the brand new extract available.

Soon, Sony’s famous Spider-Man universe, which has already given birth to Venom, Morbius and Venom 2, will expand with the release of Madame Web. It is important to note that Madame Web is not part of the MCU, as this universe was created in association with Marvel Entertainment for the characters, but it is not Marvel that takes care of it directly. Either way, the superheroine arrives in theaters on February 14, 2024, right on time for Valentine’s Day. So it’s time to discover a new trailer in the form of a video extract.

Madame Web, new Spider-Man spin-off

Given the fairly mediocre quality of Morbius and the more than divided opinions on Venom 1 and Venom 2, apprehension is quite significant for Madame Web. On social networks, many spectators express their doubts by explaining that they are not very excited by the different trailers nor by the film project itself. However, the superheroine is a fairly interesting character. As a reminder, whose real name is Cassandra Webb, Madame Web is endowed with gifts of clairvoyance and telepathy which allow her (in the film) to cross paths with Julia Carpenter, Mattie Franklin and Anya Corazon, three future Spider-Womans. Currently, Sony’s Spider-Man universe was quite masculine, so this new feminine touch and this large cast of superheroines bring a nice breath of fresh air.

Although Madame Web is not directly in the MCU, there is, according to the Spider-Man: No Way Home movie, a connection across the same multiverse. Theoretically, this means that it could be possible to see one of the well-known Spider-Mans appear in the film. However, no current rumors suggest such an appearance. It’s more likely that the film will simply include a subtle nod rather than a full-fledged cameo. Given that Madame Web is the first film of its kind, director SJ Clarkson could focus more on introducing the main characters, rather than risk overshadowing her superheroines with an already very famous character.

For your part, what do you think of this upcoming film? Do you think a Spider-Man appearance is possible as a surprise or post-credits scene?
