Ready for a new superheroic adventure? That’s good, the length of the next film Madame Web, scheduled for release in theaters on February 14, has just been revealed. Good news for Marvel fans, this is the longest opus of the Spider-Man universe developed by Sony, outside of the famous Disney MCU.

Nearly 2 hours of paintings

According to the Norwegian site FilmWeb, Madame Web is therefore the most generous feature film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (or SSU for short) with 116 minutes on the clock. It thus exceeds the durations of the films Venom (112 mins), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (97 mins) and Morbius (104 mins).

Compared to MCU productions, Madame Web thus makes more or less the same duration as Thor: Love and Thunder (119 mins), Ant-Man and the Wasp (118 min) or even the first Doctor Strange (115 min), but remains far behind the massif Avengers: Endgame (181 mins).

Directed by SJ Clarkson (the series Jessica Jones And Anatomy of a scandal), Madame Web tells the adventures of Cassandra Web, a Manhattan paramedic capable of seeing the future. She will form a special relationship with three young women with extraordinary destinies, and who will have to unite against a common enemy.

As a reminder, Disney owns a large part of the rights to Marvel characters, and has thus been able to quietly build its MCU. But the rights to Spider-Man and his universe have belonged to Sony since 1998. An intellectual property (or “IP” in English) which proved lucrative as it generated more than $10 billion at the worldwide box office.

And if the Japanese firm has joined forces with Disney to allow the Weaver to occasionally join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it has developed its own separate universe. Productions of (very) mediocre quality, but which were relatively popular in theaters. Besides Madame Webthe next installments of this Sony’s Spider-Man Universe are Kraven the Hunter (August 28, 2024) and Venom 3 (November 6, 2024).

A potential Spider-Man 4 starring Tom Holland is also in development, once again in co-production with Disney, but nothing has been made official yet.
