We announced it to you a few days ago, Madame is served, cult sitcom of the 80s will have a sequel! This new project has now found a home, tells us Deadline. The comedy, focusing on the characters played by Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano, has landed on Amazon Freevee – a US branch of Amazon Prime Video – and is now entering development.

This sequel is being written and produced by Mike Royce, known for being the co-creator, executive producer and co-showrunner of the series As the days go by. Norman Lear, historical producer of cult sitcoms since the 1970s, will be the executive producer. As for the studio, it’s Sony Pictures Television, which owns the rights to the original series and has been working on the sequel for two years.

Tony Danza and Alyssa Milano will resume their roles as Tony and Samantha Micelli. Set 30 years after the conclusion of the original series, the sequel will focus on retired Major League Baseball player-turned-servant Tony and his relationship with his daughter, Samantha.

Now a single mother, she lives in the family home. In line with the series produced by Norman Lear, this new comedy will scrutinize generational differences, which induces opposing worldviews and styles of education, all reviewed and corrected in the light of the modern family in 2022.

The original series ran for eight seasons on ABC from 1984 to 1992 and drew over 30 million American viewers at its peak. It was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards and became a classic staple through multiple reruns.

Amazon Freevee is a service that is not available in France, but there is a good chance that this sequel will be broadcast on Prime Video in France.
