Maddie died according to mail

The umpteenth twist in the case of little Madeleine McCann, disappeared in 2007 in Portugal at the age of 3. The DailyMail reports that the parents received a letter Monday evening from German prosecutors announcing that Christian Brueckner, a repeat pedophile, had killed their daughter.

For the past few weeks, the name of Christian Brueckner has been making the headlines in the newspapers in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, 13 years ago. German police and prosecution said they suspected the man, a 43-year-old German man, of having abducted and killed the girl in Praia da Luz (Portugal).

The parents, Gerry and Kate McCann, asked for proof of their daughter's death last Saturday. And on Monday evening, according to several British daily newspapers, they received a letter from the German courts, informing them that their daughter had died.

But German prosecutors refused to reveal what information was in their possession to announce this terrible news. German justice insists that disclosing any other information at this stage could jeopardize the ongoing investigation into the main suspect Christian Brueckner, currently in prison for another case.

"I sympathize with the parents, but if we reveal more details to them, it could jeopardize the investigation," said German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters, who directs the case, read in the DailyMail.

"We have concrete evidence that our suspect killed Madeleine and that means she is dead. We cannot tell them how she died. It is more important, at the moment, that we gather overwhelming evidence to charge the primary suspect, rather than just putting all of our cards on the table and telling them why we think it could be. This is a murder case, not a missing person. We have been very clear about this throughout our investigation and we have proof of it. We understand the pain of the parents, and the fact that they want to know the truth, but it is better for them that we have a clear and detailed conclusion about the case. Revealing too much detail too early could hamper ongoing investigations. ", He added.

"It is not a competition between police services. We must all go forward to find the truth "

The McCanns lawyer in Portugal, Rogerio Alves, is pressuring German investigators to reveal the evidence they have and asked to know "what is being done to resolve the matter ". The latter thus accused the three police forces involved (German, Portuguese and British) in the investigation of "keep information for them" and invited them to be more transparent to the McCann family.

"I want to know if there are new leads to pursue. I want to know what is being done. I plan to get answers to these questions this week. I don't know how much new evidence are solid, so I don't know what the Portuguese prosecutor is going to do. ", he said.

"What I hope is that everyone helps find the truth instead of hiding information or keeping information for themselves. It is not a competition between police services. We must all go forward to find the truth, "said the lawyer.
