Madonna: That's why she brings her life to the screen herself

When it comes to the story of her life, Madonna keeps the reins in hand. She writes the book and directs her biopic.

Madonna (62, "Celebration") brings her life to the big screen. The singer has teamed up with screenwriter Diablo Cody, producer Amy Pascal and Universal to film a biopic about herself, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Madonna will not only write the script with Oscar winner Cody, but also direct it.

"I want to convey the incredible journey through which my life as an artist, musician, dancer has taken me – as a person who tries to find one's way in this world," explained Madonna. "The focus of this film will always be on the music." Music and art are the driving forces in their lives. "It's important to tell the roller coaster ride of my life with my voice and vision."

The ultimate icon

"Madonna is the ultimate icon" – as a philanthropist, artist and rebel, the film studio says. "With her unique gift for creating art that is as accessible as it is cross-border, she has shaped our culture in a way that few others have done."
