Madonna is looking for the "perfect" actress for her biopic, which she will direct. Who could play the Queen of Pop?

For the film adaptation of her life story, Madonna (62) is currently looking for the "perfect" leading actress. According to the "Mirror", among others, the British Florence Pugh (25, "Little Women") should be on the shortlist. Her toughest competitor is allegedly actress Julia Garner (26), who has been talking about the role for a long time.

"She only has one chance to get it done"

The Queen of Pop is directing the biopic, which has no official name yet, and is working on the script together with Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody (42, "Juno"). "Realistically, there are few people who are able to play this role," said an insider, according to the Sunday Mirror. "The producers who are working on the film want Florence and no one doubts that she could be great." On the other hand, many fans preferred Julia Garner for the role, as she is the exact image of the young Madonna.

The final decision lies with Madonna herself, the insider continued. "She really only has one chance to get it done. There is no room for mistakes. She really puts pressure on herself to find the perfect person."

Julia Garner gained notoriety primarily for her role in the Netflix series "Ozark". In 2019 she played the leading role in the drama "The Assistant". Florence Pugh had her breakthrough with the film "Lady Macbeth" (2016) and received an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actress in 2020 for her role in "Little Women".
