What is it like to have mega-star Madonna as a mother? Daughter Lourdes speaks about this in a rare interview.

Being the child of a superstar isn’t always easy. The offspring of celebrities report this again and again. Lourdes Leon (25) also did not always have it easy with her mother Madonna (63). She now revealed this in a conversation in the “Interview Magazine”.

For the magazine founded by Andy Warhol (1928-1987), Lourdes Leon spoke to Debi Mazar (57), a friend and dancer of Madonna, about her life. Of course, her relationship with her mother also came up on the table. Lourdes was born in 1996 as the pop star’s first child, her father is the Cuban fitness trainer Carlos Leon (55).

“My mom is such a control freak, she’s been controlling me all my life,” explains Lourdes. So it was important to her to become independent as soon as possible after graduating from high school.

Self-financed studies and apartment

Lourdes Leon actually became independent. It is important to her that she has paid for her studies and her apartment herself. There were also times when she had little money available. Lourdes now works as a model and was also a designer.

“There is no handout in my family,” Lourdes clarifies in the interview. Although she is aware that she grew up privileged, Madonna always made it important that her children are not pampered as the celebrity offspring around her.

Good advice from Mama Madonna

Despite the lifelong control, Lourdes also received positive advice from her mother. She recently told her about fame: “Don’t forget, the shit isn’t real. It’s not about the money or your face or how hot you look. It’s about what you bring into the world and what you leave behind” .
