Mafia: A new episode would be in development at Hangar 13 – Mafia IV

Two years ago, Hangar 13 was recruiting for an unannounced project. This one could be a new installment of the Mafia franchise, as expected (and hoped for). According to information from Kotaku, the studio has recently chosen to focus on its flagship franchises, of which Mafia is obviously a part.

This direction taken comes at a time when two people are leaving the studio, having notably worked on Mafia III, namely Haden Blackman, head of the studio, but also Matthew Urban, head of operations. Thus, Kotaku reports in the process that the one who will replace Haden Blackman is Nick Baynes, who would currently lead the development of a new Mafia game.

VShe project would be in its infancy, but would have the code name “Nero”. This would not really be Mafia IV, since we would have the right to a prequel, as it is customary to do in recent times, whether in video games, films or series. Everything would use the Unreal Engine 5 engine, rather than the one used at the time, for Mafia III.

The information is not yet official, it is obviously necessary to take all this with tweezers. However, Hangar 13 should communicate on the subject during the next few months, if the “Nero” project is indeed real.
