Mafia: the development of a new game confirmed!

After a Mafia III far from the families of the first two episodes in 2016, Shed 13 had returned to the basics of the franchise with Mafia: Definitive Edition and Mafia II: Definitive Edition, a remake and a remastering that modernized these cult adventures. Rumor has it that the studio has since been working on Project Volt“an open world in a science fiction world with supernatural elements, Saints Row meets Cthulhu style”, in which 53 million dollars were invested before it was canceled.

Kotaku has since revealed that Shed 13 would work on a new one Mafia this time using theUnreal Engine 5, which would officiate as a prequel to the saga. We don’t know if the synopsis is the right one, but one thing is for sure, the studio is developing another Mafia ! The news was given by General Manager Roman Hladík, on the occasion ofan interview with the creators for the 20th anniversary of the franchise.

I’m happy to confirm that we have started working on a brand new Mafia project! Although it will be a few more years and we cannot say more at this time, we are excited to continue working on this franchise that we love, and to offer our players brand new stories.

On the other hand, as you have read, this Mafia will not land for “a few years”so don’t expect to get your hands on it by 2024 or 2025… To console yourself, you can Grab Mafia: The Lost City of Heaven for free between September 1-5 at Steam. And if you haven’t done so yet, Mafia III is available from €11.53 on Amazon.co.uk.
