MagentaTV combines the largest live TV offering and the largest live TV package in the “DAZN by Telekom Option”. With the combined content, you can stream the entire DAZN portfolio with DAZN Unlimited in addition to the MagentaTV offering. We have found out whether this deal is worth it or whether you should subscribe to DAZN and MagentaTV separately.

Unlike booking MagentaTV with Netflix, the combination packages for DAZN at Telekom are much easier to understand. Here you don’t have to compare numerous offers and weigh up which of the individual packages is worth it for you. There is only one “DAZN by Telekom option”, but in four variants: once as a monthly subscription and once as an annual subscription, and each for MagentaTV customers and for those who are not yet customers.

Differences between the “DAZN by Telekom Option” variants

In terms of content, all four versions are the same. On DAZN you can watch all 121 UEFA Champions League games including the conferences, all Friday and Sunday Bundesliga games, US sports such as the NFL, NBA, UFC, golf and boxing – all live, of course.

The surcharge for the “DAZN by Telekom Option” remains the same for MagentaTV customers and new customers. The only difference is that new customers have to pay the price for a MagentaTV subscription, as this is required for the DAZN offer. Existing customers continue to pay for their subscription as usual even after booking the DAZN package.

Requirements for the DAZN package

However, some MagentaTV customers cannot add the “DAZN by Telekom Option” to their existing tariff. The MagentaTV Flex and MagentaTV Smart Flex tariffs are excluded from the offer. Accordingly, you cannot book these together with the DAZN package as a new customer. Only the Smart, SmartStream and MegaStream subscriptions are eligible.

MagentaTV with DAZN in monthly subscription: No price advantage

All of this taken together, the only fundamental difference is between the annual subscription and the monthly subscription of the “DAZN by Telekom Option” and that only in terms of price. With a monthly cancellation period, you pay 44.99 euros for the additional package, which is exactly the same amount as DAZN itself charges on its own website for the monthly subscription. So you won’t save a cent with this offer.

MagentaTV with DAZN in an annual subscription: You save 24 euros

Yes, you can watch DAZN via MagentaTV and save yourself having to constantly switch between two apps. But that’s the only advantage. The situation is different with the annual subscription for the “DAZN by Telekom Option”. You can get that for just 33 euros a month, and you’re tied in for a contract period of twelve months.

According to Telekom, you save around 24 euros a year. And indeed: DAZN charges 34.99 euros for the annual subscription, which is almost 2 euros more per month than MagentaTV. In terms of content, both offer the complete DAZN package with DAZN Super Sports, DAZN World and the channels DAZN 1 and DAZN 2.

Important information about the price change

But you have to be careful. After the minimum contract period of one year, your DAZN access will be converted into a monthly subscription. This will also increase the costs from 33 euros per month to 44.99 euros per month. However, from this point on you can cancel your contract for the additional offer on a monthly basis.

If you are already a MagentaTV customer and have a Smart, SmartStream or MegaStream tariff, you will save a few euros in the first year by booking DAZN via MagentaTV. Either way, you are of course bound by DANZ’s terms of use.

If you already have a DAZN and a MagentaTV account, you can link the two services in the Telekom offer. If you book the additional package with MagentaTV, you will receive an email with a link to the DAZN website. Log in there with your existing account to transfer the subscription. To avoid double payments, however, Telekom recommends canceling your individual subscription with DANZ before booking MagentaTV with DAZN. Of course, this is only possible if you have a monthly subscription.
