MagicTech offers its customers and spectators animations and other innovative keynotes, bringing together two worlds: that of Tech and Magic.

This is the story of a man, Samuel Gaulay, connoisseur of new technologies, incidentally founder of the media Social IT, and above all a magician since he was a kid, who founded a start-up with the evocative name: MagicTech. This robotics and artificial intelligence enthusiast presented the latter to us at VivaTech, baiting us with a little demo that blew his world away, near the Porte de Versailles.

When magic and tech contribute to a better understanding of our world (and the future)

When he created his start-up, Samuel met the director of Capgemini’s Lab’Innovation, who then invited him to come and see what was being done in the laboratory. This is where he definitely throws himself into the worlds of robotics, drones, extended reality, 3D printing or holograms.

At that time, he said to himself that rather than telling how Tech impacts our businesses or our lifestyles, it is better to live an experience, to get his own idea. ” We have been told about global warming for 30 years, and yet we do not act. Why ? Because we have not yet experienced truly catastrophic events “, he explains to us, even if the weather of recent days gives us not very bright short-term prospects.

When we live something, we leave differently, we are no longer the same person. We then have an experience, an emotion. “The principle is a bit the same for MagicTech, which stages technology with a zest (even a little more) of magic, “ to prototype what the technology will do in a few years “.

Tech or Trick

On the MagicTech stand at VivaTech, Samuel Gaulay multiplies the demos, which are particularly effective with the public, thanks to their interactivity. The Alpine, which sits right in front of its stand, looks almost pale next to it. Because like any good magician, “Sam” does a series of tricks (number to guess, word, artist then song chosen by a visitor whom he guesses one after the other), not without the assistance of Pepper, the first robot humanoid that can identify human faces and emotions, developed by SoftBank Robotics.

There is a real question “Samuel continues. ” Today, we find it difficult to distinguish the true from the false, especially with fake news, and if we are finally no longer able to distinguish the algorithm that can predict the time of arrival of the driver at his destination from the magician capable to guess the card you have in mind, it becomes difficult to innovate in these conditions. We do not really see the limit of a technology, its potential and where the fantasy and the fears begin which have no value and which slow down innovation “.

The magic to better understand new technologies and the challenges of tomorrow, we say yes! And you, ready for a little tour?
