MagniFi Max AX: Polk Audio unveils a high-end soundbar compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X

Polk Audio will have waited until the end of the IFA, with its tidal wave of soundbars, to unveil its new spearhead: the MagniFi Max AX. A top-of-the-range model, compatible with Dolby Atmos and DTS: X, which includes no less than three HDMI inputs.

The MagniFi Max AX is inspired by the MagniFi Max, but adopts a slightly less flashy design. It is nevertheless much larger than its little sister with 114.3 x 11.8 x 7.2 cm for 5.83 kg. This new bar incorporates no less than 11 speakers, two of which are dedicated to the reproduction of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X elevation effects. The MagniFi Max AX is accompanied by a wireless subwoofer equipped with a 10” (approximately 25.4 cm) speaker. It measures 30.2 x 40.7 x 39.9 cm for 11.9 kg.

This new high-end soundbar therefore offers a 5.1.2 configuration that can be extended to 7.1.2 by adding two SR2 satellite speakers. These are available separately for €179 a pair, or in the MagniFi Max AX SR pack.

The MagniFi Max AX has several listening modes — TV, Movie, Music and Night — allowing you to adapt the sound reproduction according to the content played by the bar. A mode called VoiceAdjust allows you to increase the volume of dialogues.

Plenty of HDMI ports on the back of the bar

The bar is equipped with numerous HDMI ports: three inputs and one eARC output. The HDMI inputs also support 4K Dolby Vision streams. An optical input is also available on the back of the bar. In terms of connectivity, the MagniFi Max AX has Bluetooth and wifi (compatible with Chromecast, AirPlay 2, Alexa Cast and Spotify Connect protocols).

The MagniFi Max AX and the MagniFi Max AX SR will be available next October at prices of €799 and €899 respectively.
