Tightening the confinement rules to limit the spread of the coronavirus should not change anything … or almost nothing. During his speech on Monday evening, March 16, the President was very clear: we must limit outings and allow as many people as possible to work from home when possible. If banks, supermarkets, tobacco shops , press and pharmacies remain open, what about the Post Office?

Parcels and letters: we go to "contactless" delivery
Despite the government's desire to keep post offices open throughout the confinement period, as in many areas, these services will therefore need a little time to organize. On the consumer side, however, this should not change anything. Deliveries continue, with some nuances. In a statement posted on its Twitter account, the company recalls: "La Poste as a public service company and "operator of vital importance for the country", (…) therefore maintains the continuity of its essential activities for the population, with absolute respect for the health of its employees and of its customers".
- For mail: "La Poste's industrial machinery is operating normally (sorting center for mail and parcels)." So, 80% of letter carriers have been ordered to continue their regular tour. The only change: we greet each other from afar and we don't invite him to have coffee.
- For post offices: since this Monday, 16,000 of the 17,000 La Poste centers have been closed. So 1000 centers remain, everywhere in France. The offices open at 11 am, but beware, there may be long queues.
- For deliveries that require a signature on screen: a validation by SMS must be in place. A very simple way to respect the 1 meter of safety advised by the health services.
