Major damage – room fire in Graz: cats rescued

There was a room fire in Graz-Eggenberg on Friday afternoon. Thanks to smoke detectors, the residents were able to leave the apartment in good time. However, two cats remained behind – and were rescued by the Graz fire department.

A column of smoke above a residential building caused a stir in Graz-Eggenberg on Friday afternoon. A fire broke out in an attic apartment. The residents were warned in good time by smoke detectors and were able to leave the apartment. A woman and two children were given first aid by the fire department and then handed over to the Red Cross. However, two cats remained behind. The Graz professional fire department was on the scene quickly enough: the emergency services were able to quickly fight the fire and found the cats that had hidden under a couch. The damage caused by the fire is estimated at tens of thousands of euros. The cause of the fire is the subject of police investigations.
